Lessons

I am currently based in the Santa Clarita Valley, and am offering private lessons in the following areas:

• Guitar (electric and acoustic)
• Bass Guitar
• Piano/Keyboard
• Drum set
• Tutoring in Music Theory, Ear Training and Composition/Songwriting

The first thing to understand about my teaching approach is that I believe, very strongly, that everyone has the ability and potential to play music. I do not believe in talent; talent is simply opening your mind to the possibility of making music (which anyone can do with the right guidance). Rather than use one method book for any given instrument (which can be dry and boring) I draw lesson material from a variety of books and sources, according to what each individual student is learning. My program is simple: first learn to access the musician in yourself by learning and playing the songs and music that you love. Next, learn to access your inner creativity so that you can write your own songs, and jam with other musicians. Alongside the songs, the foundations of music theory, technique, and ear training are instilled in an organic and practical way. I believe in this approach, and I feel that the testimonial page is evidence of its success.

Lessons are half an hour, although hour lessons for advanced students are possible upon request. If you have further questions or would like to schedule a lesson, please contact me here.

Each month's lessons must be paid in advance, at the beginning of that month. Cancellations made 12 hours or more in advance will be granted a make-up lesson if possible, or credited to the next month. Only one make-up/credit will be allowed per month, and students will be charged for lessons cancelled with less than 12 hours notice.
